NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwired – Jan 23, 2014) – MediaMath has launched its OPEN Buyer Certification program designed to present growth opportunities to companies that excel in advancing industry awareness and innovation in programmatic media buying. Launch partner Epsilon is the first, platinum-certified buyer of the program.
"There is a tremendous amount of confusion and misinformation in the digital marketing sphere, especially around programmatic," said Greg Williams, co-founder of MediaMath and senior vice president of OPEN Partnerships. "The industry is constantly flooded with new offerings and technology, leaving marketers wondering with whom to work and how. This program is designed to help make sense of the options and enable companies like Epsilon, who have helped define the role of a modern, data-driven agency and proven their expertise, to stand out among the competition. We applaud our first certified buyers — it's a significant achievement."
Eric Stein, Epsilon's EVP of online solutions, commented on the new program. "By developing the OPEN Buyer Certification program, MediaMath shows they are committed to building an ecosystem that can accelerate innovation and further educate the market. At Epsilon, we are excited to contribute to those goals and, as longstanding partners of MediaMath, participate in a formal program that not only supports us, but helps us grow our business and build upon our mutually beneficial relationship."
Through the program, MediaMath buyers can achieve three different levels of certification: Silver, Gold, or Platinum. Each level maps to qualifying criteria across three categories. The first focuses on how the buyer is establishing a marketplace presence and cultivating a thought leadership position. For the second category, MediaMath evaluates platform usage, ensuring that partners are leveraging the features and functionality available to them to maximize programmatic impact. Finally, the third category hones in on a buyer's strategic initiatives and future plans to advance programmatic and bring new and leading strategies to market.
Just as MediaMath's educational arm, the New Marketing Institute (NMI), is structured to help foster marketer ROI, transparency and automation and create a new class of smarter, savvier marketers, OPEN Certification is also designed to facilitate the adoption of platform-based marketing approaches and help marketers evolve the industry. In addition to providing guidance throughout the certification process, MediaMath offers added benefits to help partners grow their business through lead referrals, marketing opportunities and product collaboration.
In addition to Epsilon, five other companies have participated in the program and received certification: 3Q Digital, Adroit Digital, Big Lens, Huddled Masses and Mediasmith — and more than 35 companies have started the certification process.
