Key Responsibilities

MediaMath’s Business Intelligence team is currently seeking a Data Engineer with the knowledge, passion, and capability to build and work with complex datasets that are used by data teams at MediaMath to discover and deliver insights that drive value for our clients. The Business Intelligence team fulfills  reporting needs through custom reports and analyses, and interactive web dashboards to help clients effectively manage campaigns and optimize performance. As the Data Engineer on the Business Intelligence team within the Data team, you will support these initiatives through building, maintaining, and optimizing data infrastructure.

You will:

  • Write and optimize scalable SQL and Python code in Spark and Hive environments to meet high-volume reporting and analytics needs
  • Partner with team members on MediaMath’s Data Team to understand and leverage “big data” datasets in order to solve company and client needs
  • Augment our Data teams by automating workflows and productionizing ETL pipelines
  • Create, manage, and optimize ETL jobs, data pipelines, and task schedules with tools like Rundeck, Airflow, and Kubernetes
  • Build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and data models that power our Databricks and Looker environments
  • Contribute to proprietary code repositories for our Analytics reporting platform and home-grown Python utilities
  • Develop and maintain documentation for our processes and tools

You have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably with a concentration in a computational field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering
  • 1 - 3 years of programming experience writing clean, re-usable, and scalable SQL and Python, Scala, or Java code - ideally held a Data or Software Engineer position previously
  • Cloud development experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Managed complex data models in large database technologies like Redshift or PostgreSQL, and/or cloud compute environments like Databricks or AWS Athena
  • Built and managed ETL pipelines with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Luigi, or Prefect
  • Experience in data integration, incorporating data from various data sources into a centralized data store
  • Experience in troubleshooting data infrastructure, and implementing data pipeline health monitoring and alerting
  • Experience with version control tools like Git, GitHub, Docker, participated in code reviews, and have used task management tools like JIRA

  • Proud of your work and are comfortable demonstrating the solutions you build to your peers

Nice-to-have’s:

  • Experience working with REST APIs, web services, object-oriented technologies like Python, Java, C++
  • Public GitHub repos or notebooks that illustrate the way you think about data
  • Exposure to ad-tech, digital marketing, or e-commerce industries
