If January is any indication, it’s going to be a busy year for the digital marketing industry, as many agencies and media companies made top management changes last month.
Robert Horler to Lead Dentsu Aegis Network, USA
Dentsu Aegis Network has appointed Robert Horler as chief executive (CEO) of Dentsu Aegis Network, USA. In this newly created position, Horler will be in charge of business strategy development and execution across the network’s 20 offices in the U.S.
Horler will take up the role in April of 2015, and will continue as a member of Dentsu Aegis Network’s Global Executive.
He joined the company in 2000, where he most recently served as CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Northern Europe. Horler also founded the digital agency Diffiniti, which was integrated into Dentsu Aegis’s iProspect network in 2009.
Ronald Ng Migrates From BBDO to DigitasLBi
DigitasLBi has named Ronald Ng chief creative officer (CCO) for North America. Ng will lead the company’s creative teams across all six offices in North America. Based out of New York, he will work closely with Chris Clarke, CCO for DigitasLBi International, and report to Tony Weisman, CEO of DigitasLBi North America.
Prior to DigitasLBi, Ng worked for BBDO & Proximity Singapore, where he was CCO for that office, as well as head of the network’s Asia creative council.
Alan Schanzer to Spearhead Agency and Advertiser Development at Pandora
Pandora has hired Alan Schanzer as senior vice president (SVP) of agency and advertiser development. He will lead the company’s collaborations with advertising agencies and brands, as well as develop advertising solutions for the business. Schanzer will report directly to Pandora’s chief revenue officer John Trimble.
With nearly 20 years of experience, Schanzer most recently served as chief client officer at digital advertising company Undertone Networks. Prior to that, he served as managing partner at MEC Interaction, where he worked with a number of brands including AT&T, Citibank, and Colgate.
Two Major Creative Positions at Omnicom’s DDB
David Banta has been appointed to SVP and group creative director at DDB Chicago. Banta will lead the agency’s creative team to develop and drive messaging across platforms on the Capital One account. He will report to John Maxham, chief creative officer of DDB Chicago.
Prior to DDB Chicago, Banta served as executive vice president (EVP) and executive creative director (ECD) at Hill Holliday in Boston for seven years. Before that, he worked as creative director at agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Boulder, where he worked on accounts like Burger King, Miller Lite, Shimano, and Giro.
Meanwhile, DDB New York named Icaro Doria chief creative officer. In his new position, Doria will lead the agency’s creative department and report to Chris Brown, president and CEO of DDB New York.
Before he joined DDB New York, Doria was the founder and ECD of Wieden+Kennedy in São Paulo, Brazil, where he won many well-known accounts for the agency, including Coca-Cola’s global effort for the FIFA World Cup 2014.
Senior Leadership Changes at Ogilvy & Mather Japan
Ogilvy & Mather Japan (Ogilvy) has appointed Aki Kubo as chairman, succeeded by Todd Krugman as president.
Kubo is going to replace outgoing chairman Kent Wertime who will remain a part of the Ogilvy Asia regional management team. In his new role, Kubo will continue to grow the company’s profile and client relationships.
As new president, Krugman will be in charge of Ogilvy’s day-to-day operations and lead the company’s growth plan. Prior to this promotion, Krugman has been working at Ogilvy across various markets worldwide, including Asia-Pacific, for a number of years.
Rahul Vasudev to Be the First Managing Director for APAC at MediaMath
Digital marketing technology company MediaMath has hired Rahul Vasudev as its first managing director for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. In this newly created position, Vasudev will oversee all APAC operations and grow the company’s business across the region.
Vasudev joins the MediaMath team from MediaCom, where he served as the head of digital for the APAC region.
